Capture

Pressing "Start Capture" does nothing / a warning appears

Make sure both a capture area and a Save to folder are set — both are required before capture can start. See Capture Basics for setup instructions.

Pages are not advancing automatically

Check that a Target Window is selected and that the Action Key matches the page-advance key for your target app. If no target window is set, key presses are not sent. See Auto Action & Stop Conditions for details.

Blank frames, loading screens, or mid-animation frames are captured

Review the Wait Mode setting. Smart (Auto) works for most cases; try Blank Avoidance if pages load slowly, or Wait for Stillness if you need to wait for animations to finish. Increasing the timeout can also help. See Wait Modes.

Capture does not stop at the last page / stops unexpectedly mid-way

Adjust the Loop Detection settings. If capture fails to stop at the end, lower the sensitivity or reduce the consecutive-duplicate count. If it stops too early, increase the consecutive count or raise the sensitivity threshold. See Auto Action & Stop Conditions.

I want to stop capture while it is running

The main window is minimized during capture. Restore it from the taskbar and click Stop ■.

Capture Area & Browser Capture

The "Window Click" and "Bookmarklet" buttons are disabled

These features require Pro or higher. Please check your plan (see Licenses & Plans).

Clicking the bookmarklet does not update the capture area

Make sure StillSnap is running and the local server has started. If you changed the port number, you must re-register the bookmarklet with the new port. See Bookmarklet (Browser Capture).

"Port ○○ is already in use" is displayed

Another application is using the same port. Go to Settings → Capture Settings → Browser Integration, change the port number, and re-register the bookmarklet.

Image Processing / OCR / ePub

I cannot drag and drop images

If StillSnap is running as administrator, Windows blocks drag-and-drop from standard Explorer windows by design. Please launch StillSnap without administrator privileges. See Image Processing Tool Overview.

"Limit reached" appears during AI refinement or translation

You have used up your token allowance or the trial limit. Check remaining tokens in License Settings. Consider upgrading your plan or adding more tokens. See OCR & AI Refinement / Translation and Licenses & Plans.

PNG / WEBP or PDF / ePub output options are unavailable

PNG / WEBP, PDF, and ePub output require Pro or higher (not available on Starter). Auto-trim and custom prompts require Unlimited. See Output Settings and Licenses & Plans.

Text is not recognized in the correct reading order (columns, vertical text, etc.)

In the Image Processing / OCR tab, use the Layout Detection settings to specify vertical/horizontal text, column layout, or spread splitting. See OCR & AI Refinement / Translation.

Privacy & Data

Are my captured images uploaded to a server?

No. Captured images and screenshots are stored only on your local device. StillSnap does not automatically upload or collect your captured content to any server.

Can I use StillSnap offline?

Yes. Capture, Windows OCR, layout analysis and AI upscaling (Real-ESRGAN) all run locally and work offline. A connection is only needed for the cloud AI features (AI refinement / translation) and license authentication.

What is sent to a server when I use AI refinement or translation?

Only the OCR-extracted text is sent. AI refinement / translation (Gemini) is forwarded through our proxy server to Google Cloud; the content is not stored permanently and is not used to train AI models. Your captured images themselves are never sent. See the Privacy Policy.

What information is sent during license authentication?

During Pro / Unlimited license authentication and periodic checks, your Hardware ID (HWID), IP address and license key are sent. Payment details (such as card numbers) are handled by Microsoft Store / Lemon Squeezy and are not held by us. Usage telemetry is not currently collected.

Is my sent data used to train AI models?

No. Cloud AI is processed via enterprise APIs, and the transmitted text is not used for training. Captured images are not sent at all. See the Privacy Policy.

License & Other

I changed the language but the display has not changed

Language changes take effect on the next launch. Please restart StillSnap.

I want to use StillSnap on another PC / "Device limit reached"

Each license has a maximum number of registered devices. Go to License Settings → Manage... and deregister any devices you no longer use to free up a slot. See Licenses & Plans.

My plan or expiry date is not reflected

License verification requires an internet connection. Check your connection, then open License Settings and try "Fetch latest usage from server" or re-activate your license.
